Bio

Richard Moyer is a Professor of Science Education and Natural Sciences at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry and Physics Education, a MS in Curriculum and Instruction, and an Ed.D. in Science Education. He is the recipient of several awards, including the Distinguished Teaching Award twice at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and the Distinguished Faculty Award by the Michigan Association of Governing Boards of Colleges and Universities. In addition, he was named Most Valuable Professor by the Association of Educators, a student organization at the University and was twice a nominee for the Carnegie Professor of the Year Award. Dr. Moyer has presented hundreds of workshops for teachers across the United States as well as abroad.  He is an author of several elementary and middle level science text  book series.

Research

Along with his colleagues in the Inquiry Institute, Professor Moyer is currrently studying how pre and inservice teachers learn science through inquiry pedagogy and how that learning transfers to the teachers' own classroom pedagogy.
