PDF files may be created using the sheet feed scanner.  The sheet feed scanner will automatically scan both sides of a page.  Using Adobe Acrobat Professional, the scans can be assembled it to a PDF.

A few notes about the sheet feed scanner

The sheet feed scanner loads much the same as a fax machine.  It has a capacity of 50 sheets at a time. 

There are four important icons on the scanner.

1. Paper face down, top of page first

2 and 3: Remove all paper clips, staples, etc., that may be binding the pages together.

4.  Paper is loaded in the top and feeds out the bottom.

Do NOT push the buttons on the scanner

The buttons make cause unexpected operation of the unit.  Do NOT push the buttons on the scanner. 

Step 1

Open Adobe Acrobat Professional


Click Start, then Program, then Scanning, Then Adobe Acrobat Professional

Step 2

Once in Acrobat, Click on File, Create PDF, and From Scanner

Step 3

Select the sheet feed scanner.  The correct scanner is listed as Xerox DocuMate 152.  Be sure not to select the WIA-Xeros DocuMate 152.

Step 4

To scan both sides of each page, select Double-sided, under Format. 

Step 5

Click the scan button.  This will open the scanner specific settings.

Step 6

Select the color mode for the type of document to be scanned.  Grayscale works best for most documents.

Check the Duplex box to tell the scanner to scan both sides of each page.

Click the Scan button and the paper will feed through the scanner.

Scanning

The scanning status window will pop up and display information about the scanning process

Step 7

Once the last page is scanned, the scanning software will close and return you to Acrobat.  At this time you will be prompted to add more pages.  Click Next to scan additional pages.  Click Done to finish scanning.

Step 8

Review the scanned document in Acrobat.  Once you have satisfied with the document, save it to an appropriate location.

Note regarding multiple documents

When scanning multiple documents, be sure to close before being a new scan.  If the document is left open, the next scan will be appended to the previous scan.
