Local Government

 

As a member of the University of Michigan’s Institute for Local Government Mary Kerwin conducts training for newly elected officials, and is a member of Michigan Association of School Boards’ Effective Partnerships Program where she works as an MASB facilitator to enhance productive development in leadership teams. 

Mary served two terms on the Troy Board of Education and held all offices on the board.  Mary has been active on the local, county, state and national board associations and has received NSBA’s Outstanding Board Member Award and MASB’s President’s Award, the highest awards given by these associations.  She has served on the Troy Planning Commission and was elected to the Troy City Council in November 2007.

Mary is an alumna of MSU’s Michigan Political Leadership Program.  She received her BA in English, and her Teaching Certificate at Immaculate Heart College in California.  A former English teacher, Mary is a Covey Effectiveness Trainer, and Director of Development and Special Events for the Boys and Girls Club of Troy.
