William B. Beach is a senior attorney with Miller Canfield whose practice includes all aspects of real estate, intergovernmental agreements, state and federal financing incentives, and tax credits. He also specializes in general governmental corporate law covering development and redevelopment of land through public and private partnerships, municipal boundary changes, and international government trade and business.
He received his law degree from Wayne State University, and his undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College.
He has served as city attorney and special assistant city attorney for several municipalities of varying sizes across the state. He has also represented Oakland County and the state of Michigan in condemnation work.
Mr. Beach is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan, State Bar of Florida, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association, Michigan Association of Municipal Attorneys, Michigan Municipal League Defense Attorneys, National Institute of Muncipal Law Officers, and several civic organizations including the Detroit Chamber of Commerce, World Trade Club, Detroit Economic Club, and Detroit Institute of Art Founders’ Society. He has also held leadership roles in many of these organizations. In 2001, he was elected chief executive officer of the U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce, Great Lakes Chapter. He was previously president since 1999.
A frequent lecturer on municipal law, he has published numerous articles on that subject. He wrote the chapter on incorporation, annexation, and other boundary changes in Local Government Law and Practice in Michigan.
