Better Meetings, Better Results:  Getting through the Agenda with Parliamentary Procedure

March 27th ($70)

6:00 - 9:00 pm. (Light Dinner @ 5:30 p.m.)

You spend so much time in meetings.  Wouldn’t you like them to be efficient?  Wouldn’t you like all parties to have their fair opportunity for input?  Wouldn’t you like to stay on topic?  Wouldn’t you like to make sure your decisions hold up to legal scrutiny regarding process?  Parliamentary procedure provides a way to work through the agenda efficiently and effectively.  We all know of motions and voting; yet, few of us have a sufficient grasp of parliamentary procedure to make the most of it or even know when we are following it correctly.  Come talk with a local expert on parliamentary procedure.  Discuss your tales of meeting woe and how they can be resolved.  Explore how parliamentary procedure complements efforts to adhere to requirements for open meetings and public disclosure.

Course Objectives:

When you complete this course, you will be able to

  • Explain the main elements of parliamentary procedure
  • Discuss how parliamentary procedure can be used to make meetings efficient and effective
  • Identify points where your legislative body adheres to and violates parliamentary procedure
  • Specify ways in which your legislative body can ensure that it practices proper parliamentary procedure
