Fundamentals of Planning and Zoning            March 13th ($70)

6:00 - 9:00 pm. (Light Dinner @ 5:30 p.m.)

Controlling land use is one of the fundamental functions of municipal government.  Planning and zoning are essential tools for carrying out this function.  Unless you have been active in real estate development, the terms, processes, and roles of planning and zoning can be confusing.  Come discuss the fundamental aspects of planning and zoning in local government.  Discuss what master plans, zoning ordinances and amendments, site plans, and planned unit developments are and what they mean for your community.  Come talk about the legal restrictions and obligations associated with guiding land use in your community.  Hear advice on actions you can take to proactively use zoning to achieve public purposes and avoid lawsuits.
